Job Summary
HMC Architects is seeking an experienced and strategic Senior Marketing Manager to lead marketing initiatives that support growth, brand differentiation, and client engagement across a major practice area. This role serves as a trusted partner to practice leadership, driving pursuit strategy, business development support, thought leadership initiatives, and marketing communications. The ideal candidate is a compelling storyteller, skilled pursuit strategist, and collaborative leader who thrives in a fast-paced professional services environment.
This position is located in HMC’s Ontario, California office. The position requires 3 days in the office and the ability to work from home Mondays and Fridays.
Position Responsibilities
- Lead proposal, pursuit, and interview strategies to improve win rates and support business growth.
- Develop compelling marketing content, proposals, presentations, qualifications packages, and client-facing collateral.
- Partner with practice leaders to create strategic messaging, positioning, and pursuit strategies.
- Coach and mentor pursuit teams, marketing staff, and practice leaders throughout the business development process.
- Analyze market, competitor, and client intelligence to guide business development and growth initiatives.
- Develop and implement marketing plans aligned with practice and firm-wide goals.
- Support thought leadership efforts through publications, presentations, award submissions, website content, and industry engagement.
- Manage conferences, trade shows, special events, and promotional campaigns.
- Coordinate communication and collaboration across marketing, business development, and technical teams.
- Represent HMC at industry, client, and community events to strengthen relationships and brand visibility.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, English, Journalism, Architecture, Marketing, or a related field.
- 5-7+ years of marketing experience within architecture, engineering, construction, or professional services industries.
- Proven experience leading pursuit strategies, proposals, presentations, and business development initiatives.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and team management skills.
- Exceptional writing, editing, storytelling, and communication abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign.
- Experience with Deltek, OpenAsset, or similar marketing and CRM platforms preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Strategic thinker with a results-oriented mindset and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams while independently driving projects to completion.
