Position Description
The Business Development Director of our San Antonio business unit is a vital role that will strategize and grow business development (BD), foster new client relationships, and advise local leadership on strategies to achieve revenue, growth, and diversification targets. The BD Director ensures that others in the San Antonio Business Unit maintain accountability for sales goals and business development activities. This role actively participates as part of the San Antonio Business Unit (BU) Leadership Team.
Essential Functions:
Possesses and Applies Market Knowledge
Possesses strong market knowledge used to identify and pursue the right projects for the right clients
Has strong market knowledge and connections across our core markets in the San Antonio/Austin/I-35 Corridor marketplace
Possesses strong AEC knowledge and utilizes it to support pursuits and win strategies
Understands macro trends that may affect the markets in which they are operating
Utilizes market knowledge to develop a local BU strategy in alignment with CCI goals
Networking and Connecting:
Identifies the right networks in alignment with the strategic plan and clients
Actively engages in events and coordinates efforts. Supports and trains other CCI operations team members in their BD outreach and client relationship building activities and skills
Sells Catamount as a national entity and across all markets
Collaborating for Success:
Models being a pursuit “Quarterback.” Organizes, motivates, and aligns operational team members, marketing, and preconstruction throughout a pursuit process
Consistently raises San Antonio’s win rate and impact on its market.
Leads the consistent growth of Catamount’s market share along the I-35 corridor and across southern Texas
Communicates effectively with all team members to ensure they have the right information at the right time as it relates to capture planning
Holds self and others accountable for business development activities and active pursuits to meet annual goals
Works with VP of National BD and Operational Leadership to develop and execute an Annual BD Plan
Actively participates as part of the national business development team, attending weekly team meetings, participating in execution of annual team goals and supporting sales and business development across all business units.
Mentors, Coaches, and Trains
Mentors other Catamount personnel in BD skills and supports others’ growth and development.
Trains others in key BD, networking, and interviewing skills and processes to build a robust BD culture.
Is accountable for execution of a robust Go/No Go process, ensuring that Catamount pursues the right work for the right clients and is very well pre-positioned to win.
Client Management Reporting(CRM) and Insights
Maintains strong CRM hygiene, including regular updates of relevant data so that they (and others) can draw logical conclusions about current and future opportunities, wins, and backlog.
Uses data to draw insights about clients and opportunities. and how they are tracking towards their goals.
Works with other operational leaders to ensure they are entering and utilizing BD data effectively.
Measures and understands the San Antonio business unit’s performance against its annual plan and identifies strategies to fill gaps.

Physical Demands (office): The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; bend; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
Travel: Regular travel may be required to maintain strong client + internal relationships and attend critical events as needed.
Education, Experience & Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or a related field
Minimum of 7-10 years’ experience in business development
Proven track record of developing and executing successful business development strategies
Deep expertise and experience within the AEC industry – experience in our core markets and/or the South Texas marketplace preferred
Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
Strong experience with CRM systems.
