Description
Summit Construction is seeking an experienced design and communications professional to join our team. This individual will play a key role in shaping how our company communicates—both internally and externally—through compelling storytelling, strong visual design, and thoughtful strategic messaging. The Marketing Manager – Communications position will focus on proposal creation, client communications, and project marketing.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
Proposal Development:
- Lead the creation and design of professional proposals and qualification packages using Adobe InDesign and Photoshop
- Maintain brand consistency and accuracy across all proposal materials
- Coordinate with the director of marketing, leadership, and project teams to gather content, craft persuasive messaging, and communicate our service offerings in a clear, effective fashion
Creative and Visual Content:
- Assist in the development of marketing collateral, presentations, and visual assets
- Capture and edit professional-quality photography of projects, team members, and events
Editing and Quality Control:
- Review and edit written materials for clarity, grammar, and tone
- Ensure all materials reflect the highest level of accuracy, consistency, and attention to detail
Marketing Communications:
- Produce written updates for our clients using our communications program
- Communicate with various members of our team to guarantee accurate information
- Design event collateral for our communications program using InDesign, Photoshop, and other tools
- Support the director of marketing with executing content plans for company communications including newsletters, website updates, and social media
Craft clear, engaging, and on-brand copy for a variety of audiences and platforms - Support internal communications to strengthen company culture and employee engagement
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, graphic design, or related field
- 3–5 years of relevant experience in proposal development and marketing communications (A/E/C industry experience a plus)
- Proficiency in Adobe InDesign required
- Proficiency in graphic design with an eye for layout, color, and branding consistency (professional graphic design background not required)
- Experience in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator (beginner – intermediate experience ok)
- Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills with strong command of grammar and style
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines
- Experience with photography and photo editing
- Experience with videography with DSLR cameras and drones a plus
Applicants must be able to provide at least two examples of original work demonstrating graphic design skills during the second interview. Work should not be created using Canva or similar template-based design tools.

Geographical Requirements
This position is open to applicants in the Akron or Columbus area.
Akron position
- In-office
- Must be able to travel with reliable transportation up to 10x per year to Columbus area and Central Ohio job sites for progress photos, groundbreakings, ribbon cuttings, and trade shows (Mileage and other travel reimbursements included)
- Hybrid schedule available after 6 months
Columbus position
- Remote / hybrid position
- Must be able to travel with reliable transportation to Akron office quarterly
