B. Thayer Associates (BTA) was founded in 1990 by Barbara Thayer. Licensed in both architecture and engineering, Ms. Thayer envisioned and established a firm that combines the intricacies of each discipline into a cohesive whole. A hands-on, highly accessible leader, she fosters a working environment dedicated to innovative design, teamwork and client satisfaction. The size of the firm caters to personal attention, while simultaneously offering the services of a larger firm. These services include architecture, civil and structural engineering, traffic engineering, landscape architecture, planning, historic preservation and construction phase services.
BTA brings a coordinated interdisciplinary approach to the project it undertakes. This approach allows the firm to focus on the aesthetics, functionality, security and constructability of each design. This translates into durable, sustainable and award-winning designs that are consistently delivered on or ahead of schedule and within budget.
Serving both the public and private sectors, BTA has developed an expertise in designing and building in urban environments. Working within this urban context, the firm is knowledgeable about consensus building and is able to complete projects quickly and efficiently. BTA has an ability to work effectively within the codes and requirements of the various agencies in the New York metropolitan region.
