Bartlett Cocke General Contractors is a 450 person, ENR Top 400 Contractor, that is headquartered in San Antonio, Texas and has regional offices Austin and Houston, Texas. A leader throughout Texas in the commercial building industry, Bartlett Cocke General Contractors was established in by Bartlett Cocke, Jr. in 1959. We are an employee-owned firm with a unique reputation for value-building for our clients. Our foundation, and the very basis for our reputation, is our people and their proven ability to build the best possible product for the greatest possible value and return for our clients.
Our Company is unique to the construction industry in that we run a great business on every level, not just a great construction company. Company History
Bartlett Cocke General Contractors was founded in San Antonio, Texas in 1959, by Bartlett Cocke, Jr. From our inception, we have been an employee owned firm that empowers our staff at the project level and places decision making authority as close to our clients as possible.
Throughout the 60's, 70's and 80's the firm grew under the guidance of our founder Bartlett Cock, Jr. who put in place a leadership team who was focused on preparing the firm for the future. In the early 1990's, Bartlett Cocke, Jr. sold all of his ownership in the firm to the employees and Duane Pozza was appointed President.
Under Duane's leadership, Bartlett Cocke General Contractors grew in size from under $50,000,000 annual revenue to over $400,000,000 in annual revenue. Duane was responsible for significant expansion of our organization and the opening of two (2) regional offices. In 1997 we opened an office in Austin, Texas and in 2002 we opened an office in Houston, Texas.
A Certified Public Accountant by training, Duane made sure that the firm was well-managed financially and that we continued to grow our bonding capacity. Duane also focused transitioning the company into the next millennium by increasing the number of employee shareholders and including all staff in the strategic planning process.
In 2006, Duane Pozza stepped down as President of Bartlett Cocke Gneral Contractors (while remaining Chairman and CEO) and Randy Pawelek was appointed President by the Board of Directors. In 2008, Randy Pawelek was appointed President and CEO by the Board of Directors and Duane Pozza will Remain Chairman of the Board until 2009.
Under Randy Paweleks direction the company continues to be focused on the initial principals of our founder, employee ownership and decision making at the project level. But Randy is also focused on making Bartlett Cocke General Contractors a leader throughout Texas in the commercial building industry. Randy has also brought a re-newed emphasis on establishing joint venture relationships for very large and strategically important projects and making joint venture relationships a strategic focus of our business plan.
In 2009, Bartlett Cocke General Contractors will celebrate 50 years of success in the commercial building industry in Texas. Some of the clients that have contributed to our success include but are not limited to Toyota Motor Manufacturing, the University of Texas System, Methodist Hospital System, Texas A&M University System, Wachovia Bank, Northside Independent School District, Southwest Reasearch Institute, and Fort Bend Independent School District.
