Company History
During our first 100 years, Freese and Nichols,
Inc. and its employees have served as advisors
to presidents, designed projects that have
improved the quality and safety of life in the
southwest, and brought water to drought-ridden
west Texas. Now in our second century of
service, we continue to build on our reputation
as a "smart idea" firm with a history of putting
together well-conceived, well-planned and long-
term projects.
While first recognized for pioneering efforts in
water resources (our firm has designed more than
150 dams and reservoirs) Freese and Nichols
today also provides a broad range of
architectural, engineering and environmental
science services. The firm's founder, Major John
B. Hawley, was fond of saying that the firm he
founded had developed into an "institution." As
one of the oldest engineering firms in Texas and
an active force in the development of the
state's resources, certainly Freese and Nichols
has established a tradition that will stand the
test of time.
