Company Overview
Geotechnical and Environmental Consultants, Inc. (GEC) was founded in 1989. In August 2004, GEC joined forces with SA&B Environmental and Chemical Consultants (SA&B), which was founded in 1987. GEC and SA&B combined to offer a wide range of technical consulting services, including geotechnical, environmental, chemical and materials testing services. We did business as GEC - SA&B until January 2007, when we began doing business as GEC. The company is a registered engineering and geology firm and a licensed contractor (Class A General Engineering License No. 105090). Our professional and technical staff has over 350 years of combined experience throughout the United States.
Back in 1989, the founding principals of GEC acted upon their desire to do something on their own. They decided to take a risk by leaving their employers and practicing their profession in different way. The odds were stacked against them; business statistics reveal that over 75% of these new endeavors fail within 3 years. They were blessed with timing, opportunity, and a drive to do it "a better way."
They copied some practices and procedures from their previous experiences; but many others were done differently. Early on, their main purpose was to diligently practice their trade and survive. History has demonstrated and several noted publications have chronicled GEC's success and validated the fact that GEC's founders truly implemented "a better way."
