Company Profile
Company Overview
Threshold Acoustics provides acoustics and AV design consulting for performance, education, worship, cultural and public assembly spaces. Our collective experience spans two decades and scores of prominent music, theater, educational, and religious buildings – as well as a remarkable diversity of others – whose owners have sought intentional, well-crafted soundscapes in their buildings.
Our accomplished, engaging staff brings backgrounds in music, theater, mechanical and electrical engineering, physics, live sound, architecture, and architectural acoustics. That diversity supports our approach to room acoustics, audio/video systems, noise control, and sound isolation as inseparable parts of a whole. We apply our deep knowledge of the subject to every project, taking care to explain the scientific and perceptual basis for our recommendations because doing so frees the design team to explore possibilities with a clear understanding of what is acoustically important and why. Smart decisions, new approaches, and elegant designs can then emerge from the team as a whole.
Company History
Origins
Threshold Acoustics, LLC was established in 2006 to provide room acoustics and audio/video design consulting services for performance and education facilities, worship spaces, cultural buildings, and other places of public assembly. Its partners, Carl Giegold, Scott Pfeiffer, and Dawn Schuette, were formerly senior design and management staff at the acclaimed acoustics firm Kirkegaard Associates, where they led efforts on some of that firm's most prominent music, theatre, and religious buildings. Over the past 12 years, our company has grown to over 30 accomplished staff across multiple disciplines.
Benefits
Along with the benefits noted above, we also provide access to a Flexible Spending Account (FSA), and have a long term disability policy. In addition, we continue to look for ways to help our staff pursue interests that benefit us all. We offer a 50% reimbursement up to $300 annually of tickets to live performances or other events that expand our collective experience with a wide range of performing arts outlets.
Conference attendance will be supported according to your interests and our need to efficiently cover our potential markets. We will work with you to determine the organizations in which you have interest, your wish to draw on existing relationships, or to create new ones, and which beneficially increase our visibility. We encourage and support continuing professional education, with value to the broader interests of the company being of primary importance.
