Position Summary
The Marketing & Business Development Manager is responsible for identifying new business opportunities and supporting the firm's continued growth through strategic proposal development, marketing, and client relationship management.
Working directly with Principals, Project Managers, consultants, and design staff, this position leads the preparation of winning proposals, manages the firm's marketing initiatives, and develops and maintains industry and professional relationships.

Requirements
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following:
Proposal Development (RFP/RFQ)
- Lead the strategic preparation of Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Requests for Qualifications (RFQs), interview packages, and presentation materials.
Research project opportunities through procurement websites, Deltek GovWin, and other industry resources. - Participate in Go/No-Go discussions and recommend pursuit strategies.
- Coordinate in-house and consultant proposal team members, proposal submittal schedule including milestone progress checks, requests for information, pre-proposal meetings, and submission deadlines.
- Gather technical information from Principals, Project Managers, and consultants to create customized and compliant proposals.
- Utilizing previously completed submittals continue on-going development of proposal templates with the goal of improving submittal quality and presentation.
- Maintain and update Johnson Favaro projects database as the basis for proposal narrative content addressing submittal requirements.
- Participate with submittal team in the development and final edits of compelling project narratives and marketing content that accurately communicate the firm's qualifications.
- Ensure all proposal documents meet client requirements, firm standards, and submission deadlines.
- Continuously improve proposal content by collaborating with subject matter experts and incorporating lessons learned.
Business Development:
- Identify conferences, networking events, and industry organizations that support the firm's strategic growth goals.
Represent Johnson Favaro professionally at industry events and client meetings. - Build and maintain relationships with clients, consultants, school districts, public agencies, and other industry partners.
- Research upcoming projects, market trends, competitors, and legislative developments affecting public-sector work.
- Coordinate presentations, speaking engagements, and outreach opportunities for firm leadership.
- Maintain and update the firm's business development pipeline and annual marketing plan.
Marketing & Communications
- Manage the firm's website, social media platforms, and digital communications.
Prepare announcements regarding project awards, completed projects, construction milestones, and firm news. - Create and maintain brochures, project sheets, presentations, award submissions, newsletters, press releases, case studies, and other marketing collateral.
- Maintain and update the firm’s project digital library including project photography, renderings, graphics, maps, and other visual assets to support proposal development and marketing activities.
- Maintain and update the firm's marketing library including maintaining a network of existing and new consultants to support projects and proposals.
- Maintain and update resumes for in-house staff and potential consultant team members as needed to support proposal development.
- Ensure all marketing materials align with Johnson Favaro's brand standards and design quality.
- Collaborate with in-house architecture staff to communicate project stories through compelling graphics and narrative content.
Administrative & Office Support
- The position is supported by the front-office Office Manager in the preparation of proposals and maintenance of the firm’s digital library and marketing files.
- In turn, the Marketing and Development Manager, provides front-office assistance alongside the front-office Office Manager including answering phones and greeting visitors.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, Architecture, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
3–5 years of experience in marketing, proposal management, and/or business development. - Familiarity with the general format of Requests for Qualifications and Requests for Proposals in order to organize the RFQ/RFP submittal deliverables.
- Excellent writing, editing, proofreading, and communication skills.
- Strong organizational and project management abilities with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across all levels of an organization.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Adobe InDesign.
Preferred
- Experience within the Architecture, Engineering, or Construction (A/E/C) industry.
- Familiarity with public-sector procurement and qualifications-based selection.
- Experience researching project leads using RFP tracking software such as Deltek GovWin and procurement websites.
