The Role
The Marketing Manager plays a key role in developing strategic initiatives for the firm to engage with client communities and communicate its work, values, and vision, in a way that supports client and project pursuits, brand positioning, and business growth. This position works closely with firm leaders and project teams to develop high-quality proposals, design materials, and craft narratives that reflect who we are and what drives our purpose as architects. The role offers the opportunity to lead and support diverse marketing and business development efforts, including proposal development, storytelling across digital platforms, and teaching business development skills. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented communicator with a passion for architecture and design.
About the Work
- Oversee workload of the three-person marketing team, setting priorities and schedules that are aligned with business development objectives and firm initiatives, and support the team as necessary according to changing needs and deadlines.
- Serve as a strategic thinker who continuously researches market conditions, economic trends, client priorities, and competitive activity to keep senior leadership informed and guide marketing and business development strategies.
- Support marketing team development through mentoring and knowledge sharing, support design professionals, and collaborate with firm leadership
and senior staff. - Lead the development of responses to RFQs and RFPs from kickoff through final submission across a diversity of market sectors.
- Organize and support pursuit planning sessions with firm leadership and project teams.
- Oversee and manage the creation of marketing materials, including oversight of the writing, editing, and designing proposal content and technical narratives.
- Oversee and lead the writing, editing, and design of public relations collateral.
- Conduct interviews with project teams to develop articles, case studies, and white papers, as well as stories for design award submissions and videography.
- Guide the team in the execution of marketing campaigns that are in alignment with brand equity, strategic messaging, and firm initiatives.
- Support interview preparation, including organizing practice sessions, coaching technical teams and presenters, and creating presentation materials.
- Support the coordination of photography of firm projects and other subjects as needed for marketing use.
- Ensure that the marketing team maintains and updates a centralized library of proposal assets, including project photos, resumes, project descriptions, and templates.
- Protect and elevate the firm's brand equity by ensuring brand consistency across all marketing and proposal materials and digital platforms.
- Support business development tracking, opportunity research, and teaming coordination.
- Track and maintain proposal metrics by market sector and publish a monthly status report showing wins, losses, fees, and hit rate.
- Participate in monthly business development cadence meetings for new seller-doers and leadership.
- Participate in professional and community organizations, including SMPS and similar groups.
- Attend industry conferences and business development-focused events.
Requirements
About You
- You have 8+ years of experience in a marketing management role within the AEC industry.
- You have the ability to mentor and develop a team, foster collaboration, continuous learning, and professional growth.
- You are adept at managing multiple deadlines and competing priorities.
- You seek to drive continuous improvement in the pursuit process, messaging, and visual storytelling.
- You have a well-developed knowledge of the state of AEC marketing and communications principles, and are committed to continuous learning and staying current on industry trends and best practices.
- You are a strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communicator.
- You have superior organizational skills and are diligent, meticulous, and focused on quality and clarity.
- You have experience with organizing and managing the Go/No-Go Process.
- You have proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud—specifically InDesign, InCopy, and Acrobat—and Microsoft 365.
- As a plus, you are familiar with Deltek Vantagepoint and/or other Client Relationship Management (CRM) system.
