Description
BNIM is a collaboration of architectural, design and planning professionals who leverage a collective capacity for design thinking to solve local and global issues related to design and community. Comprised of an energetic collection of design professionals, we share a deep commitment to sustainable, human purposed, high-quality design and a rigorous approach to project and client delivery.
We offer competitive salaries and benefits with on-going training opportunities and an environment that allows employee interests and strengths to flourish.
BNIM's business development ecosystem connects around a shared purpose: pursuing the right work, for the right reasons, with the right teams. We are looking for a Strategic Pursuits Leader to strengthen this ecosystem by ensuring teams are focused, informed, organized, and ready to pursue work that is aligned with our practice and core purpose.
Our six focus market sectors are Education, Cultural, Government, Private Development, Workplace, and Emerging. The Strategic Pursuits Leader will work alongside Principals, Market Sector Leaders (MSLs), and our Marketing and Business Development team to sharpen pursuit strategy, support strong proposals and interviews, and bring consistency to a process that is led by pursuit champions and MSLs who manage the firm’s client relationships.
This position fits someone who leads through positive influence, brings discipline to complex and fast-moving pursuits, and can help teams move from early opportunity to final interview with clarity, collaboration, and follow-through. The successful candidate will bring strong intuition and a genuine interest in translating BNIM’s collective expertise into successful pursuit strategy and outcomes.
We are seeking an individual who is:

Self-driven and Willing
Generous in Spirit
Specific Responsibilities:
Identify and track intelligence on key strategic pursuits and opportunities, including procurement sites and industry sources
Initiate introductory meetings with partner firms, consultants, and new clients who reach out to the firm
Maintain records of leads, pipeline activity, and pursuit tracking
Regularly share intelligence with Market Sector Leaders to inform pursuit strategy
Facilitate the Go/No-Go process with Market Growth Leaders and Market Sector Leaders
Organize, coordinate, and execute strategic pursuit teams from proposal through interview
Lead Bi-weekly Strategic Pursuits meeting
Support clear storytelling and coordination across design, technical, and communications disciplines
Support Market Sector Leaders through each stage of the pursuit process
Monitor and report on pursuit investment against the annual pursuits budget
Requirements
Proven ability to gather, synthesize, and communicate pursuit intelligence from multiple internal and external sources
Fluency in technology and data, including Deltek Vantagepoint, Excel, and BNIM's custom AI tools, to keep pursuit intelligence, tracking, and communications sharp and current
Strong organizational and record-keeping habits
Strong writing and storytelling instincts; find and shape a client-specific narrative under deadline pressure
Strong facilitation skills, including experience leading structured BD processes such as Go/No-Go, proposal development, and interview preparation across multiple stakeholder groups
Ability to guide pursuit teams in developing client-specific proposals and interview presentations
Track record of coordinating complex, multi-stakeholder efforts, including timelines, deliverables, and team accountability in a support role
Comfort operating across disciplines and levels — design leadership, technical staff, external partners, and firm principals — without formal authority
Ability to build consensus through collaboration and discussion rather than directive authority
Working knowledge of pursuit investment tracking, budget monitoring, and resource prioritization
A genuine interest in architecture and design as disciplines, not just as a sales category
Experience:
Ideal candidates will have 10 or more years of business development or pursuit management experience in the AEC industry. However, this role will not be filled by experience alone; we are looking for the right fit for our team and our pursuit culture. Bachelor’s degree in architecture, marketing, business, communications, or a related field preferred.
